The Village of Fochabers 

 

Fochabers was founded in 1776, and is one of the best examples of a planned village. It is a conservation area, with most of the buildings in the High Street listed as being of historical or architectural interest.

Speyside in Moray is home to 13 world-renowned whisky distilleries on the popular Malt Whisky Trail, as well as a cooperage workshop that supplies all the distilleries with their casks. We can organise visits and tours on behalf of our guests.

The Speyside way


The Speyside Way runs from Buckie on the shore of the Moray Firth coast of NE Scotland, south westwards to Aviemore on the edge of the Cairngorm Mountains, a distance of approximately 65 miles. There is also a 15 mile spur to Tomintoul.


We can transport our guests to any point along the Speyside way, including baggage transfers.

Fishing - Fochabers is close to the River Spey, world famous for its salmon fishing.
Golf - There are many challenging golf courses nearby. Golf packages can be arranged.
Mountain biking - There are excellent mountain biking trails close by.
Cycling - There is a network of cycle routes in the area, a great way to enjoy the local countryside, while avoiding the main roads.
Skiing/snowboarding - Fochabers is approximately a 1 hour drive from The Lecht and Cairngorm Ski Centres. Ski packages can be arranged.
Local visitor centres - Johnstons Cashmere, Elgin and Walkers Shortbread, Aberlour.
WDCS - Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. The Moray Firth is home to a population of around 130 bottle-nose dolphins.  The WDCS Wildlife Centre in Spey Bay is 10 minutes away with exhibitions, a cafe and shop.
Beaches - There are many beautiful beaches in the area.
Historic buildings/places of interest - Visit Brodie Castle, Cawdor Castle, Ballindalloch Castle and Elgin Cathedral.
Landmark Visitor Centre - This is approximately a 1 hour drive and is a fun day out for all the family. Attractions include a wild water roller coaster ride.
Elgin - A 15 minute drive from Fochabers with many attractions including shops, swimming pool, ice rink, gym, ten pin bowling and cinema.
Speyfest - Fochabers is the home of Speyfest, an annual festival of the best in traditional and contemporary Celtic music.
